- Miss Dimity is a lady of what the French, in their inestimable good taste, call "A Woman of a Certain Age." Miss Dimity remembers a time when manners were the rule rather than the exception, when people said things like "Thank you," "Please" and "Excuse me," and gentlemen stood when a lady entered the room. It was a time when younger people respected their elders in recognition of the latter's greater life experience and no one discussed religion, politics or money in what was then known as "mixed company." Miss Dimity, known as "Miss Dim" to her intimates, enjoys fine wine, stimulating conversation and the company of intelligent people and well-written books. She believes that the world would be a better place if we all read more and were kinder to one another. Miss Dimity disdains spotlight-grabbers and attention seekers, and young gentlemen who have no regular employment but who slope about behind their chosen female, talking loudly on cellular telephones. Miss Dimity does not tolerate rudeness, laziness, name-calling, or the airing of contrary opinion for no other purpose than to prove how "edgy" one is. (Miss Dimity prefers authenticity to "edge" and takes her martini very dry indeed.) In her other life, Miss Dimity is the author of several volumes of literature, some articles, a smattering of journalism, and a modest soupçon of radio work. She has been featured on tasteful television programs and in the popular press. Miss Dimity is privileged to share her home with two adorable and impeccably-behaved dogs.
